Wexford manager Davy Fitzgerald believes that his charges can still have a major say in this year's championship, despite losing out on a place in the Leinster SHC final.

The Model County looked set to meet Galway in this year's provincial decider as they held a comfortable lead against Kilkenny in last Saturday's Leinster SHC round robin clash, but the Cars came roar back in the second half to claim the victory.

Fitzgerald was incensed by some of referee James McGrath's decisions during the game, but now he has turned his attention to the remainder of the campaign.

Wexford will meet either Carlow or Westmeath in an All-Ireland preliminary quarterfinal and Fitzgerald is hoping that they can push on from there.

"I am looking forward to the next phase of the championship. Hopefully, we will have a huge impact," Fitzgerald told the Wexford People.
