Slaughtneil football manager Mickey Moran

Slaughtneil are on the lookout for a new senior footballer manager after Mickey Moran's decision to step down from his post.

Derry Now reports that Moran and his backroom team met with club officials on Monday night and he informed them of the decision, having taken over the manager's role back in December 2013 from current Sligo boss Cathal Corey.

During his time in charge, Moran steered the club to four Derry senior championship titles, three Ulster titles and two All-Ireland final appearances at Croke Park - both of which ended in defeat.

Last Saturday week's extra time defeat to Nemo Rangers proved to be the Watty Grahams clubman's last game at the helm, as the club now search for a new supremo with the All County Football League commencing in less than four weeks' time.

The Emmets also confirmed that hurling manager Michael McShane will remain in charge for another season, having guided his team to back-to-back Ulster titles in 2017.
