Mayo hurlers are all set for TV

Mayo manager Derek Walsh is pleased by his side's start to the NHL Division 2B campaign.

Two wins from two is the perfect start to the campaign as wins over Donegal and Armagh see the Connacht side sit on top of the table.

Last weekend, two goals from dual star Keith Higgins helped Mayo to a 3-15 to 2-13 win over the Orchard County as the hurling counties head into a weekend break.

Mayo will return to action on Sunday week when they take on a Derry side that have been beaten in their opening two games and Walsh told the Western People that they are keen to prolong this unbeaten run.

"Derry in two weeks is a massive game for us," said Walsh. "We had no expectations at the beginning of the league. For us, it's about getting our own thing right and our house in order.

"Donegal were good last week, but Derry will be different if they have the Slaughtneil guys back when we play them. Armagh were well beaten by Wicklow last week, but they had the Middletown players back and it was a totally different Armagh team."

He added: "We are just delighted to have our full panel back together and we are looking forward to the Derry game now in two weeks. Our objective for the next two weeks is to get game time into the lads that haven't had games yet and get them up to the level of the other lads."
