O'Connor remains grounded

Kerry senior hurling manager Fintan O'Connor

Kerry manager Fintan O'Connor is still in no doubt that his side are far from the finished article, despite beating Cork in hurling for the first time in 127 years.

The Kingdom caused something of a massive shock against the Rebels in the last round of the Munster SHL when they recorded a comfortable win over John Meyler's side.

The fact that Cork were very understrength was not lost on O'Connor who even though was delighted to get the win against such illustrious opponents, knows that tougher tasks lie ahead in the NHL.

"You'd definitely be happy with it, but then you don't really know until you get into the really competitive nature of the league," O'Connor told the Kerryman.

Kerry begin their NHL Division 2A campaign with a trip across the Irish Sea to take on London at Ruislip.
