Cork star Pat Horgan says he still doesn't know why he was sent off in the closing stages of last year's All-Ireland SHC semi-final defeat to Waterford.
The Rebel County's all-time top scorer in championship hurling will miss the Munster champions' Allianz League opener against Kilkenny at Pairc Ui Chaoimh next Saturday week as a result of the suspension carrying over from last August.
He says anyone wanting "a good laugh" should have a look at the incident for which he was sent off against the Deise men.
"I was actually laughing coming off the pitch because of that. I still don't know why I got it but it stands anyway, I don't know why it stands," Horgan is quoted saying by the Irish Examiner.
"I had no luck (with an appeal) which is strange because you can see from the video the whole incident. If you ever have a chance to look at it you should look at it and have a good laugh. I wasted half a day off work (appealing). You put your point across but you know early on what's coming.
"Pairc Ui Chaoimh... it would have been a nice one to play in, wouldn't it? It's not often that fellas are champing at the bit for a game in January but it's one of the games you would be dreading missing because it will be a good game. It'll be Cork's first competitive game there."
