Limerick manager John Kiely was impressed with Aaron Gillane's scoring return in yesterday evening's Munster senior hurling league clash against Cork.
Gillane was the stand out performer in Mallow, scoring 1-9 in the Shannonsiders five-point victory over the Rebels and speaking after the game Kiely said he was glad for his team to get a "hotly contested game" under their belts.
"We're both just getting back up on the horse after a long break," Kiely said afterwards. "Overall, I thought it was a good workout for both teams, given the time of the year, the storm held off for a few hours!
"I think it was a good hotly contested game, both sides went at it hammer and tongs, I think at the end of the day all people want is to get a bit of game-time under the belt."
On the showing from Patrickswell's Gillane in the front lines, the Treaty boss added: "He threatened, especially in the inside line, he'd normally be at 10, with the U21s and with the club. We said we'd try him on the inside line tonight. He was a threat, he likes it inside there, and he's good in the air."
