Clare joint-manager Gerry O'Connor believes that the newcomers in the squad will be given ample opportunity to impress over the coming weeks.

O'Connor revealed that there are up to ten new players in training at the moment and with a number of this year's squad sidelined through injury and unavailable for other reasons, there will be plenty of opportunities for the new players to shine.

"We have brought ten new guys into the panel and this is an excellent opportunity for them to hold their hands up and stake a claim for a place in the team," O'Connor told the Clare Champion.

"They have been training with us since before the Fenway games in Boston."

The Banner will be one of four teams taking part in the Munster SHL and they play their first game against Cork on January 14th.
