Former Kilkenny goalkeeper PJ Ryan is looking forward to starting his new role as Games Development Administrator in his native county.

Earlier in the week, it was reported that Ryan would have to step down as Wexford's hurling coach in order to take up the new position.

The seven times All-Ireland SHC winner will be involved in coaching in schools and clubs in the south of the county, while working at Cul Camps and with the development squads will also be part of his job detail.

Speaking to the Kilkenny People he said: "I am very exciting by the challenge ahead. I have played all my life, so coaching is the next best thing to that."
