Kilkenny clubs have opted to retain the current format of the hurling league/championships, despite the major changes introduced to the inter-county structure.

The new format at inter-county level sees an almost blackout for club games during the months of May through to August and look set to have a serious implication on the club scene.

However, Kilkenny clubs voted to retain the current format at senior, intermediate and junior level, although they did express their concerns over the impact that the inter-county scene will have on them.

There may be new dates for the start of the Kilkenny SHL which clubs feel should start in April, while the SHC could also be moved, depending on Kilkenny's progress in the championship.

Meanwhile, clubs have given their backing to the introduction of a new under-19 hurling league/championship in the county with the aim to combat the fall off of players between the ages of 18 and 21.
