Roscommon's Niall Daly gets tackle in as Tyrone's Cathal McShane gathers possession

Cathal McShane remained as modest as ever after moving to the top of the championship scoring chart.

McShane’s eight-point haul against Roscommon in the Super 8s clash at Dr Hyde Park on Saturday night moved the Tyrone attacker level with Kildare’s Adam Tyrrell on the scoring list, with Tyrrell no longer involved in the championship.

His nearest challengers still active in the competition are Mark Collins of Cork and Meath’s Michael Newman. “Yeah, again it works for you some days and then other days, it doesn't,” the Owen Roes clubman told The Belfast Telegraph.

“Here, it was all about being patient. There were men back there and it is not going to be on all the time.

“When it is on, you need to be ready and I think we did that, in the second half especially. We managed to get the ball over the bar and that was important.”
