Fermanagh's Eimear Smyth is LGFA Player of the Month for April

FERMANAGH forward Eimear Smyth has been honoured with The Croke Park/LGFA Player of the Month award for April.

Smyth, 18, from the Derrygonnelly club, is the second recipient of the monthly award for 2019.

She produced sparkling displays during the month of April as Fermanagh progressed to the Lidl National League Division 4 Final.

In the final round of group fixtures, Eimear scored 0-5 (three frees) in defeat to Louth, but Fermanagh were safely through to the last four of the competition.

In the semi-final against Limerick, Eimear excelled, scoring 1-12 as Fermanagh came from 11 points down at half-time to claim a remarkable 2-15 to 4-7 victory.

Fermanagh would finish the campaign as Division 4 champions, with Eimear contributing 1-6, including the winning point from a free, in victory over Antrim at St Tiernach’s Park in Clones.

Eimear, a Mount Lourdes, Enniskillen A-level student, was presented with her award today by Alan Smullen, General Manager, The Croke Park.

Eimear and Fermanagh’s thoughts now turn towards the TG4 Ulster Junior Championship semi-final against Antrim on Sunday, June 9.
