Ryan McHugh admits Donegal will miss Odhran MacNiallais as they bid to retain the Ulster SFC.

Widely regarded as one of the classiest footballers in the county, MacNiallais has opted out of Declan Bonner’s Donegal squad for the summer and McHugh makes no effort to gloss over how much of a loss he’s going to be:

“There is no point beating around the bush – it is going to be huge,” the Kilcar ace told The Irish Daily Star. “Odhran is a top, top footballer – one of the best in Ireland and probably the most talented footballer I have ever played with.

“In training, some of the stuff he does is phenomenal. From a player point of view, you have to respect his decision.

“Same as Michael [Murphy], Odhran is a top lad, a great lad. He’s very, very close friends with a lot of the Donegal players but you have to respect his decision and hopefully we’ll see Odhran in a Donegal jersey in the near future.”
