Tyrone club Killyclogher are on the look out for a new manager.

One may wonder why the 2016 county SFC champions have left it so late to appoint a manager for the 2019 campaign, but the fact is that they already had a manager in place.

The club made a big appointment when former Kilcoo, Dromore and Derry under-21 manager Paul McIver was handed the reins for the coming year.

However, McIver has stepped away from the position as the Ulster Herald revealed that the new manager only learned recently that a number of the squad are planning to spend the summer in the United States.

Former county star Dermot Carlin has taken over the position on a temporary basis and he revealed that it was disappointing to lose a coach of McIver’s calibre.

“It was disappointing surely, but it would have been far worse if he had decided two or three games in that he wasn’t going to continue,” said Carlin.

“It’s his own decision and he was going to have to put a lot of time and effort into it, and if he felt that way, there wasn’t much we could do without it.

“We have a few boys going to America, which didn’t help the situation. Mark Bradley is for America and a few other boys are heading to America. So, he just said no, I can’t do it.”
