Kerry boss Peter Keane has hinted that David Clifford could play some part against Mayo this weekend.

The Kingdom welcome James Horan's men to Tralee for a sold-out fixture on Saturday night and Keane admits Clifford is “not far away” from making his first appearance of the year as the Young Footballer of the Year continues to recover from shoulder surgery.

Keane added that Clifford's fellow attacker James O'Donoghue trained last Friday and is set to train again tomorrow night, when he will be in “a better position to evaluate both players”.

David Moran (tendonitis) and Paul Geaney (back) will both miss the forthcoming games against Mayo and Roscommon, however.
