The Allianz football leagues continued to throw up plenty of excitement over the weekend. Here is our team of the week from the round 3 games…
1. Michael O’Reilly (Tipperary)
Tipperary brought Donegal’s winning run in Division 2 to an end and their netminder was equal to a Jamie Brennan penalty attempt at Semple Stadium.
2. Donal Keogan (Meath)
The Royal County’s joint-captain roamed forward to win two crucial frees which took the sting out of Armagh’s second-half comeback in Pairc Tailteann.
3. Ger Cafferkey (Mayo)
“It was one of his best games” – manager James Horan spoke highly of his full-back’s contribution against Cavan after the final whistle.
4. Paddy Maguire (Leitrim)
Leitrim are perched proudly at the top of the Division 4 table after making it three wins from as many games at Antrim’s expense.
5. Shane Killoran (Roscommon)
Killoran was one of the standout performers as the primrose and blues shared the Division 1 spoils with Tyrone.
6. Paul Murphy (Kerry)
The all-action Murphy used his experience to telling effect against the Dubs in Tralee on Saturday night.
7. Daniel Mimnagh (Longford)
It was fitting that the influential Mimnagh brought the curtain down on the scoring in the midlanders’ five-point success over Carlow.
8. Liam Gavaghan (London)
London inflicted an eight point defeat on visitors Wexford and Gavaghan finished as their top scorer with six points – two from play.
9. Ryan Jones (Fermanagh)
The Ernesiders' unbeaten start to Division 2 continued on Saturday as Jones & Co got the better of Kildare on home soil.
10. Dara Moynihan (Kerry)
Moynihan’s ‘man-of-the-match’ performance in Austin Stack Park was one of many highlights from a Kingdom perspective.
11. Aidan O’Shea (Mayo)
Mayo have a maximum six points on the board and O’Shea played a starring role in their round 3 victory over Cavan.
12. Sam Mulroy (Louth)
Mulroy was the main architect of Louth’s late smash-and-grab raid against Offaly in Tullamore.
13. Shane Walsh (Galway)
The supremely gifted Walsh raised five white flags in the Tribesmen’s minimum margin victory over Monaghan.
14. Evan O’Carroll (Laois)
O’Carroll was the O’Moore County’s go-to-man against Sligo and finished with 0-8 (six from play) to his name.
15. David Tubridy (Clare)
Clare’s scorer-in-chief continued his rich vein of form with a personal haul of 1-7 in the surprisingly one-sided Division 2 contest with Cork.
