Jim Gavin says Jason Sherlock remains fully committed to the Dublin cause, despite reports on Friday suggesting that he had left the management set-up.

The 1995 All-Ireland winner's appearance on the sideline was one of the big talking points of last night's absorbing Allianz League encounter between Dublin and Kerry in Tralee, which the Kingdom edged by a point.

"You probably need to speak to the journalist who reported that; reports on rumour and conjecture," the Dublin manager told RTE.

"Jason was here tonight and he’s committed to the Dublin players as much as I am."

Gavin was pleased with the battling qualities the All-Ireland champions showed to come for four points down following Michael Fitzsimons' dismissal to level, only to lose to Peter Crowley's last-gasp fisted point.

"Of course, disappointed not to get the two points, but I thought the application from our guys was outstanding," he continued.

"They tried really hard, fitness levels are a long way off Kerry’s, but we hope to close that gap and that game will bring us on for our next game against Mayo.

"We’re four weeks back now. We have series of games now coming up against Mayo and Roscommon that will bring us on an awful lot. We have club action next week and then we prepare for the Mayo match.

"We’re very happy with where we’re at and we have a number of players to come back."
