Kildare forward Padraig Fogarty has returned to the county squad determined to make the most of his opportunity.

A series of lengthy injuries have hampered Fogarty’s inter-county career over the past couple of seasons, but the St Laurence’s player has been included in this year’s squad.

And, he admitted to the Leinster Leader that he is delighted to be back and hoping to have a clear run from all injuries as the campaign gets underway.

“I went in to give it another go. Glad to get a call back in. I was carrying a few knocks over the last few years and it was hard to get a good run at the football but luckily enough over the last year I’ve been injury free and hopefully I can stay that way and try and get the fitness back up to that level that I need to get to,” said Fogarty.

Kildare’s All-Ireland U20 success should be a big boost to the senior squad going forward, according to Fogarty.

“They’re after having great success and hopefully they can bring that winning mentality into the dressingroom with the seniors and we’ll look to push on and they’ll bring more competition to the first 15.”
