Clann na nGael manager Fergal Shine is adamant that they will need to improve if they are to dethrone Connacht club SFC champions Corofin next Sunday.

The sides meet in the provincial semi-final this weekend. Both sides played last weekend as Corofin ground out a sixth consecutive county title following a replay win over Mountbellew/Moylough.

At the same time, Clann na nGael were pushed all the way by London champions Tir Chonaill Gaels before a late surge saw them over the line.

Now, the Roscommon champions face a much tougher test at Dr Hyde Park and Shine told the Westmeath Independent that a marked improvement is needed.

“We need to be ten times better against Corofin on Sunday,” stressed Shine. “Some of the players who lined out last weekend completely underperformed.

“I knew that the Tir Chonaill Gaels game would be a difficult one for us, but I think there was an element of complacency within the team. We can’t afford to have another off day.”
