Sean Cavanagh is on the road to recovery and is looking forward to pulling on the club jersey in 2019.

The 2008 ‘Footballer of the Year’ sustained a broken nose, concussion and facial injuries following an incident in Moy’s Tyrone SFC defeat to Edendork last Saturday.

“Thankfully I’ve recovered,” he remarked to BBC Sport NI at an event being held to increase awareness of the increasing levels of concussion in sport.

“The nose is sore, I still have heavy concussion but recovering. You’re going to pick up knocks in sport, Saturday was no different.

“Thankfully, the wounds are healing and onwards and upwards.”

Cavanagh also revealed that he has no intention of hanging up the boots just yet.

“I hope so, I love the game, I love the sport, it’s something I’ve been doing a long time so I certainly don’t want to walk away from it at this point.

“Disappointing from our club’s perspective, we had high ambitions. Fair play to Edendork, they pulled out a good performance and I wish them all the best in the championship.

“Hopefully, as 2019 approaches, the body will be fit and well and I’ll be able to get back playing what I love.”
