Kilmurry-Ibrickane goalkeeper Ian McInerney showed his forwards how to score as he registered 1-05 in their Clare SFC clash last weekend.

The defending Clare senior football champions opened up their title defence with a comprehensive 7-20 to 0-04 win over Kilfenora on Saturday evening last.

But it was the scoring exploits of their goalkeeper that caught the attention with an impressive 1-05 from the number one position.

McInerney's tally was made up of a converted penalty, two '45s and three frees as the defending champions recorded a comfortable win.

The sight of a goalkeeper coming forward to take frees or '45s is common place in the modern game, but not so with penalties, especially in gaelic football.
