Armagh assistant manager Jim McCorry says there was too much negativity amongst the county's supporters after the team's Ulster championship defeat to Fermanagh in May.

Kieran McGeeney's side went down to a surprise 0-12 to 0-7 loss at the hands of the Ernesiders before bouncing back in the qualifiers to record wins over Westmeath, Sligo and Clare and move within a game of the inaugural Super 8s.

A six-point defeat to Roscommon would spell the end of what McCorry felt was a positive season overall for the Orchard men.

"I think the important thing now if for everybody to reflect on the year," he told The Irish News. "After the Fermanagh defeat people were calling for Geezer's head and half the team along with him.

"But people forget about the great work that was done in the league and getting into Division 2 and the great work that was done to get through those three qualifier games.

"To actually miss out on the Super 8s by a fine margin shows the tremendous work that has been done."
