Waterford manager Tom McGlinchey isn't overly optimistic about his side's chances of pulling off a Munster SFC upset against Tipperary this Saturday.

12 months ago, the Deise ran Cork to a point but their league displays this year doesn't fill manager McGlinchey with confidence ahead of the Semple Stadium clash with his native county.

"The league was disappointing because we had hoped to build on the Cork game from last year and obviously it didn't work out," he remarked to the Irish Daily Star at the Munster SFC launch.

"We'll see how we get on, but it's going to be very difficult.

"We are starting with practically 50 per cent of a new panel, and it's going to be hard to bring them up to the standard that's required for senior inter-county."
