Donegal's Conor Morrison and Darren McCurry of Tyrone chase possession during the McKenna Cup final at the Athletic Grounds

Talented forward Darren McCurry has been forced to opt out of the Tyrone senior football panel because of work commitments.

The Edendork clubman - who featured as a substitute in last Saturday's Division 1 win over Donegal - informed Mickey Harte of his decision on Monday.

"We have a lot of work in North Antrim at the moment and I was finding it difficult to train three or four nights a week," the two-time Ulster SFC medalist explained to teamtalkmag.com.

"That is the level of commitment that you have to give to county football and I feel that I'm not in the position to do that at the moment.

"I will concentrate with the club for the season ahead and I will review my situation after that."
