The decision by Offaly football boss Stephen Wallace to leave Cian Johnson out of his squad for today's re-fixed Allianz League tie with Derry means the talented teenager has avoided the prospect of playing three games in as many days.

The in-demand 18-year-old was due to travel to the Celtic Park for the re-fixture, but Wallace has left him to concentrate on his school commitments. Johnston was part of the combined Offaly Schools team that lost yesterday's Leinster PP Schools senior football 'A' semi-final to Marist, Athlone by 2-6 to 2-9, but will have the chance to put that disappointment behind him when he lines out for Gallen CS in the North Leinster PP Schools senior 'B' football semi-final against O'Carolan College, Nobber in Ferbane tomorrow at 1pm.

The Ferbane outfit are bidding to reach their third North Leinster final in-a-row.
