Roscommon captain Conor Devaney looks to be winning his race to be fit for the opening round of the National Football League.

The Connacht champions kick off their Division 2 campaign at home to Meath on Sunday January 28th and Devaney is set to lead the side out.

The Kilbride clubman picked up a knock during the comfortable win over Leitrim in the Connacht FBD FL last week, but the calf injury sustained will not keep him sidelined for too long.

In 2017, Devaney scored 2- 4 from half-back, including three points against Galway in the final, to help Roscommon lift the JJ Nestor Cup and this earned him an All-Star nominee.

The Rossies do have injury concerns over the likes of Cathal Compton, Ultan Harney, Ronan Daly, Ronan Stack, Shane Killoran and Ross Timothy ahead of the league opener.
