Clare's Kevin Harnett will miss the start of the 2018 national football league.

The Meelick clubman hasn't yet returned to training after undergoing surgery on his shoulder in December. He has been ruled out of the Banner County's Division Two opener against Cavan in Ennis on January 27th and is also doubtful for the trip to Meath and the home game against Tipperary the following weekends.

Eoin Cleary and David Tubridy are both expected to be back in time for the Cavan game, while Gary Brennan could return for Saturday's McGrath Cup final clash with Cork.
