Armagh boss Kieran McGeeney has named an experimental 26-man squad ahead of tonight's McKenna Cup opening round clash against neighbours Down in Newry (throw-in 8pm).

The Orchard County have a long-list of absentees from 2017 with the likes of Ciaran McKeever (retired), Ciaron O'Hanlon (travelling), Stefan Campbell, James Morgan and Jamie Clarke (all opted out) no longer involved.

There is some good news for McGeeney's men though as Crossmaglen defender Paul Hughes has rejoined the county set-up after reportedly deciding not to.

Armagh (McKenna Cup v Down): Patrick Morrison, Aaron McKay, Aidan Forker, Paul Hughes, Brendan Donaghy, Niall Rowland, Mark Shields, Charlie Vernon, Aaron Findon, Eamon McGeown, Darren McKenna, Ethan Rafferty, Greg McCabe, Joe McElroy, Stephen Sheridan, Blaine Hughes, Miceal McKenna, Oisin Lappin, Oisin MacIomhair, Patrick Burns, Andrew Murnin, Ronan Lappin, Rory Grugan, Ryan Kennedy, Colm Watters, Ryan McShane.
