Dr Crokes forward Brian Looney has revealed that despite their season generally being longer than many clubs, he has no problem staying fresh.

Looney is seeking his sixth Munster club SFC medal this Sunday when Crokes take on Nemo Rangers in the provincial decider.

The talented forward could be forgiven for not wanting more out of the game as his medal haul is the envy of many, but that is certainly not the case.

Speaking to the Kerryman, Looney stated that his preparation throughout the year suits him best. "I don't find it (staying fresh) too difficult personally, with the years you get to look after your body, you know what works and what doesn't," said Looney.

"Earlier in the year after the All-Ireland win we had the opportunity to give the bodies a bit of a break, we tapered back our training a little bit as well, which was very important for the year ahead.

"I suppose our strength in depth over the years has been a real bonus and probably one of the big factors in having the success we had last year. A lot of credit to the young fellows who are really pushing over the last number of years, and who have broken onto the team. Nobody can rest on their laurels, there's very few guaranteed places and that's what keeps it fresh."
