Sympathy

We extend the sympathy of St. Patrick's G.A.A. club to the Power family, Tullocussaune on the recent death of John Power, formally of Newtown, Drangan. Affectionately known locally as Johnny Mac since his days as a publican in Drangan when he was proprietor of the Corner House pub. He also served as an E.S.B. meter reader and postman in the Drangan for many years. The Power Family have been involved in Gaelic Games in our parish for many years with brothers John, Paddy and Michael all prominent members of St. Patrick's G.A.A. club. John himself lined out for several St. Patrick's teams including the Junior footballers of 1954 defeated by Ardfinnan in the South Final. Paddy also a former player was a member of the Co. Board for many years and also served as a Co. Minor Football selector. Michael won South championships in 1963 and also won many awards for his music skills representing St. Patrick's in many Scor competitions. As he reposed in O'Donoghues Funeral Home in Clonmel John's coffin was draped in the Black and Amber of his native and beloved St. Patrick's. To all John's family and friends we extend our deepest sympathy. May he rest in peace.
