Borris-Ileigh manager Johnny Kelly feels that his charges operate at their best when they are regarded as underdogs.

They have been underdogs throughout the year but keep defying the odds and are just 60 minutes away from winning an All-Ireland club title.

However, they face arguably their toughest test to date when they take on defending champions Ballyhale Shamrocks in Croke Park.

Kelly admitted to the Midland Tribune that they have work to do ahead of the final, but feels that if his side produce a performance then they have a great chance.

“None of us have played in an All-Ireland club final so Ballyhale will have the trump card, they know the ground they know the route and will know the field,” said Kelly.

“Not many of our lads have played in Croke Park. Some may have played minor or senior with Tipp but at the end of the day it’s a hurling game and you can build it up all you want. It’s just a hurling field.

“I know there are different surroundings but all we want to do is perform. It’s our main goal. We will do a bit of homework on them.

“It suits us. It does not bother us. We were slight underdogs (against St Thomas). We know what is inside the four walls of the dressingroom.”
