Power set to take Tipp reins

David Power looks set to be confirmed as Tipperary’s next senior football manager.
The Irish Independent reports that the Kilsheelan native is the leading contender to succeed Liam Kearns in the Premier County, with the latter having stepped down in June following his team’s All-Ireland SFC qualifier loss to Down.
Power steered Tipp to a historic All-Ireland minor triumph in 2011 and also went on to manager Wexford’s senior footballers from 2014 to 2016.
Former Waterford and Sligo manager Niall Carew was thought to be a contender for the vacancy but is now understood to be out of the running.
