No divided loyalties for Droog this weekend

Na Piarsaigh's David Dempsey wheels away in celebration after hitting the Doon net in the Limerick SHC final

Na Piarsaigh backroom team member Darragh Droog avoided a ‘slightly awkward’ situation this weekend.

Droog works as a Strength & Conditiong coach with both the Limerick champions and Tipperary SHC finalists Nenagh Éire Óg.

The latter’s defeat to Clonoulty-Rossmore means he is spared having to choose one team over the other ahead of tomorrow’s Munster Club SHC clash in the Gaelic Grounds.

“Once both teams got to the latter stages I started to realise and people were asking the question, 'What will you do if both teams win?',” he told the Irish Independent.

“I kept kicking it to touch and saying that I'd cross that bridge when we come to that.

“It would have been a great bridge to cross, albeit a slightly awkward one.

“I've been lucky that I've been with teams that are capable of doing this well and I know lots of other lads that are doing the same work as me with camogie and hurling and maybe weren't as lucky as I've been.”
