Tipperary are set to boycott the upcoming launch of the Munster championships in protest at the change of date for their potential Munster SFC semi-final against Cork.

Manager Liam Kearns has blasted the Munster Council for bringing forward the penultimate round tie by eight days to Saturday, May 26, which is just seven days after Tipperary take on Waterford in the quarter-final on Saturday, May 19. The date for the semi-final was changed last week to avoid a clash with the Tipp v Waterford Munster SHC semi-final on Sunday, June 3.

"We are now the only team in the country being asked to play two provincial football matches in seven days, if the situation arises," an unimpressed Kearns told the Irish Independent.

"The Competition Controls Committee, the very name suggests that their very function is to protect the integrity of the competition and, in my view, this decision has blatantly failed to do that."
