Drumcliffe/Rosses club notes

March 27, 2017

Well done to our ladies intermediate footballers who earned a deserved 3-4 to 0-13 draw against Calry/St Joseph's at Hazelwood last Sunday morning in their ACL Cup Group 1 match. The girls produced a very encouraging display with seven different players getting on the scoresheet.

The previous evening, our senior men's footballers were beaten by St Molaise Gaels in the Kieran Cup on a scoreline of 5-12 to 3-8.

Best of luck to our club players Seán Power, Jude McGarry and Can Rally who are part of the Sligo panel which plays Galway in the Connacht Under 21 football championship final this Saturday evening in Markievicz Park at 6pm. Sligo are seeking their first ever provincial title at this grade. We wish manager Paul Taylor and the team every success.

Our Benbulben Gaels U16 hurlers travel to play Easkey/St Farnan's in the league this Thursday evening. Throw-in: 6:30pm. Our U12 footballers begin their Division 1 league campaign next Monday evening with a trip to Corran Park to play Ballymote/Bunninadden, also at 6:30pm.

We're making some long term plans for your local GAA club and we'd like you to help us shape this plans. Interested club and local community members are invited to a Club Planning Workshop in Co Sligo Golf Club, Rosses Point, this Friday evening (March 31st), starting at 8:30pm. We are looking for your opinions on the best way forward for the club over the next five years. For more info, please contact club development officer Austin O'Callaghan on 0876855621.

Our former men's club captain, Dr Conor Kenny (Rosses Point) is currently keeping an audio and video diary for RTÉ radio's Morning Ireland programme while working on the Aquarius migrant rescue ship with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in the Mediterranean. The links to his diary are available on the club's Facebook page.
