Drumcliffe/Rosses club notes

January 23, 2017

The management line-ups for our all our underage teams across football and hurling will be finalised at the January club meeting on Monday 30th in Oxfield (9pm). We are still seeking additional coaches to help with our boys U16 and girls U14 football teams. Interested coaches/parents should contact coaching officer Declan Carroll on 0879480114.

On Friday, February 3rd, the club will pay tribute to the commitment and effort of all our underage footballers and hurlers over the last 12 months when we hold our annual Thank You Celebration in Rathcormac Hall at 7:30pm. There'll be complimentary food and a disco for all players (U12 to Minor). Parents and families are also very welcome.

Commiserations to the Summerhill College senior gaelic footballers who were beaten by St Gerald's Castlebar in the Connacht Colleges 'A' Championship last week.

Best of luck to club players Séan Power, Jude McGarry and the Sligo U21 football team who take on Mayo in the North West Cup final this Sunday. It will be a big weekend too for Oisín O'Reilly has he and the EJ Sligo All Stars basketball team play Neptune in the President's Cup final in Dublin.

Well done to our young handballers who represented Rathcormac NS with distinction at the Community Games finals in Collooney last Friday evening. Drumcliffe Handball coaching continues every Saturday morning in Oxfield from 10am. New players are always very welcome.

The club is entering a team in this year's Ocean FM 'Pole Position' radio sports quiz. We've been drawn against Manor Rangers FC in round 1. Team of 3 is needed. It's free to enter and there's a prize of €1000 for the overall winning team. If you would like to be part of our team, please contact club PRO Austin O'Callaghan on 0876855621.

We will be holding a clothing recycling day at Oxfield in February. Details of the date and times will be confirmed in the next couple of weeks. So, if you are planning to do a spring clean after the Christmas, keep this event in mind.

Sympathies are extended to the Gilmartin family, Tullyhill, following the death of Mary Gilmartin.

The club's monthly meeting for January takes place on Monday night (30th) in Oxfield at 9pm.
