Preview: Connacht SFC: Sligo v Galway

Galway avoided the trap that Sligo fell into last year when comfortably getting the better of London in the quarter-final at Ruislip.

Shane Walsh, Michael Martin and Danny Cummins netted the goals as Alan Mulholland's side scored a 3-17 to 0-7 victory over the Exiles.

Since then, however, Johnny Duane and Eoin Concannon have been axed by the manager for "internal" reasons and, looking in from the outside, all would not appear to be well.

New Yeats County boss Pat Flanagan will be looking to build on a relatively promising league campaign that saw his side finish in mid-table in Division 3 with three wins.

Adrian Marren's recovery from an ankle injury is a major plus and he has been named at full-forward in the starting 15.

Although considered odds-on favourites to advance to a Connacht SFC final against arch-rivals Mayo, there is no danger that the Paul Conroy captained Galway will take Sligo for granted.

The Yeats County have held the upper hand in recent times - winning three and drawing one of the last five championship clashes - but the maroon and whites get the vote to set the record straight on Saturday.

Sky Sports will be in Markievicz Park to capture all the action as it unfolds.
