Tubbercurry GAA Club Notes

The Tubbercurry/Cloonacool U-14 team played Round 2 of the league away to Easkey last Friday 10th May, the trend of recent meetings between these two sides continued with us coming out two point winners in a very hard fought victory. We led at half time by 2 points after playing with the assistance of a strong breeze. In the 2nd half the lads dug deep and scored two late goals to secure victory 4.06 to 3.07. Their next fixture is a home one on Friday 17th May @ 7pm V St Mary's.

The U-16 play played a rescheduled game versus Calry/St Joseph's last Saturday afternoon 11th May in the Sligo IT Grounds, following a great performance they came away with the two league points 3.07 to 0.04. The final round of the league is on Monday 13th May V St. Mary's in Kent Park. We also have one more rescheduled games to play versus Easkey. We are currently in 3rd position in the league, the top 4 qualify for the semi-finals, the remainder play in the semi-finals of the Shield. The semi-finals will take place on Monday May 20th and the finals taking place on Thursday May 23rd.

The Tubbercurry/Cloonacool minor team were defeated by Calry/ St Joseph's last Tuesday evening is the final game in the league section, the final score was 1.08 to 0.14. 48 hours later they played Tourlestrane in Cloonacool in playoff for a semi-final spot but were beaten on a sore line of 4.10 to 2.05. We now play in the Shield Final versus St John's on Thursday 16th May @7pm, venue TBC.

The Senior Football Team played St Farnan's in Kilcoyne Park last Saturday evening 11th May in Round 7 of the league. The team put on an excellent performance to record an easy win 5.13 to 0.06. Round 8 of the league take place on the weekend 1st/2nd June when we play Eastern Harps in Fr. Kevin Brehony Park.

The Junior Footballers game versus St. John's was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch, the next game is Round 4 against Bunninadden away on the weekend of the 25/26th May.

The club would like to wish David Wynne and Cathal Surlis a speedy recovery from recent injuries they received playing for the club.
