The death took place at the Galway Clinic of Michael Haran, Radharc Na Hinse, Ballybeg, Ennis, Co.Clare formerly of Cully, Curry.

His remains were removed to St Peter and Paul Church, Clarecastle and burial took place after Solemn Requiem Mass to Clarehill Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife Michelle, son Brian, daughters Aisling and Aoife, mother Winnifred, sisters Margaret and Pauline, brothers Ambrose, John and Declan, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and a wide circle of friends.
The late Michael was a member of An Garda Siochana who was stationed in Ennis and Kilrush during the course of a distinguished career which saw him achieve a high ranking in the force. Michael was a diligent and committed member of the force and left no stone unturned in his role as a Garda as he carried out his duties with great professionalism and was held in the highest esteem by his fellow officers.

Michael was a passionate GAA man, he represented Sligo at all levels and lined out at midfield for the Yeats County in the early '90s. He represented Curry at all levels and won numerous awards with the club, at underage and adult level, before transferring to the Kilrush Club in Clare where he gave many years of dedicated service until his retirement a few short years ago.

Michael was a man of great integrity, he was a proud Sligo man and never lost touch with his roots, he retained a keen interest in the fortunes of his beloved Curry and Sligo.

He bore his illness with great dignity and battled it with typical determination and courage which were his hallmarks on and off the field of play.

He was a great family man and the huge crowds who travelled from Curry and Charlestown to join with the mourners from all parts of Clare was ample proof of the esteem and affection in which he was held.

His death at such a young age is a big blow to his family and many friends but Michael will be reunited with his late father, Ambrose, in that big house in the sky. He leaves a rich legacy of achievement, honour and memories which will not be forgotten by all who were privileged to know him.
We tender our deepest sympathy to the bereaved.
