“No!”
Clare manager Brian Lohan’s matter of fact response when asked if he had an opportunity to talk with his All-Ireland winning team-mate, and Wexford manager, Davy Fitzgerald.
“People can write what they like about me and Brian Lohan, it doesn’t bother me in the slightest. He is who he is and I am who I am. That never would come into it with me. I’ll always be a proud Clare man, but I’m manager of Wexford and I love what I do down here as well.”
Hurling is Davy Fitzgerald’s main focus.
“Ah, no way. The game is fine. The game is absolutely 100 per cent fine.”
Leave hurling alone was the message from Limerick’s John Kiely when the possibility of a black card being introduced to hurling was raised.
“He’s fine. He got a bang in the nerve. He just couldn’t feel it there. He’s fine now.”
Shane O’Neill gave a positive injury update on Joe Canning after Galway’s talisman was forced off the field in the 47th minute.
“Of course we’re delighted with the win but I think mostly we’re very happy with the performance and the effort that our lads put in there.”
Kieran Kingston’s Cork secured a morale-boosting victory over Tipperary.
“I’m happy with the level of performance I’m getting. I’m just not getting it for long enough periods to win matches.”
The All-Ireland champions have no points to show for their efforts after two rounds but Liam Sheedy isn’t pressing the panic button just yet.
“Look, we were a bit disappointed with our performance in Kilkenny the last day. So we were looking for a better one today. And a higher work-rate. And in fairness to the guys, they delivered that is spades today.”
Mattie Kenny’s Dublin bounced back from the disappointment of their round 1 loss to Kilkenny with a victory over Laois.
“We won’t be rushing them back.”
Brian Cody is in no hurry to throw his Ballyhale Shamrocks contingent into action.
“Our performance was very patchy, some good with the bad. It is far from the performance I would have expected considering our performance against Cork the weekend before. So it is definitely a work in progress.”
Waterford’s display in their win over Westmeath left a lot to be desired, according to Liam Cahill.
