Sligo hurlers are on the cusp of a place in the Nicky Rackard Cup semi-finals if they can avoid a defeat to Mayo this weekend.

Having won their opening two games, Sligo sit top of the Group B table and realistically they have one foot in the semi final.

However, were Mayo to record a big win and Tyrone defeat Louth, then that would see the Yeats County miss out on the last four.

Sligo captain James Weir knows what they have to do and stressed to the Sligo Champion that the mood in the camp is very good ahead of this Saturday’s clash at Scarden.

“Mayo are a good side, we know that. They’re in Division 2A in the league so they’ll be out to prove a point after losing to Tyrone in the opening game and they’ll want to be pushing for promotion and want to get their campaign back on track so we have a big challenge ahead of us,” said Weir.
