HS hurling team of the week

Here are the players that made the cut in our hurling team of the week…

1. Eoin Murphy (Kilkenny)

The All-Star ‘keeper was at his brilliant best to deny Patrick Horgan a goal in the second-half at Nowlan Park yesterday.

2. Tom Condon (Limerick)

John Kiely praised the attitude displayed by Condon and his team-mates in the three-point round 1 victory over Wexford.



3. Padraic Maher (Tipperary)

The experienced Premier County defender was honoured with eir Sport’s ‘man-of-the-match’ award in Semple Stadium on Saturday evening.

4. Huw Lawlor (Kilkenny)

Put in an industrious shift in the number 3 jersey for the Cats against visitors Cork.



5. Padraic Mannion (Galway)
 

The influential half-back was as reliable as every in the Tribesmen’s 1-27 to 2-15 victory over Laois in Pearse Stadium.

6. Paddy Deegan (Kilkenny)

Made the scoresheet with a point during an impressive shift for the Cats against the Rebel County.



7. Dan Morrissey (Limerick)

Morrissey caught the eye for the All-Ireland champions against Wexford.

8. Cathal Mannion (Galway)

The impressive Mannion fired over four points for Micheal Donoghues’ charges.



9. Mikey Kearney (Waterford)

The Deise made light work of Offaly and midfielder Kearney was one of a number of players that would have impressed new boss Paraic Fanning. 

10. Shane Conway (Kerry)

Kerry’s HL Division 2A promotion bid got off to a great start with a win away to Antrim and Conway – who notched 12 points – was a constant thorn in the side of the Saffrons’ defence.



11. Stephen Bennett (Waterford)

Offaly’s defenders will be glad to see the back of Bennett who helped himself to 0-16 (six points from play) at Semple Stadium yesterday.

12. Donal Burke (Dublin)

The Na Fianna man came off the bench for the second-half against Carlow and helped to swing the game in the Sky Blues’ favour with a return of 1-4.



13. Aaron Gillane (Limerick)

The Patrickswell sharpshooter pick-pocketed the Model County to the tune of 1-5 (1-2) from play.

14. Seamus Callanan (Tipperary)

The Drom-Inch clubman marked his first league outing as the Premier County’s captain with an individual haul of 2-7.


 

15. Patrick Horgan (Cork)

Despite having Paul Murphy for company, Horgan accumulated a personal tally of 0-10 which included five points from play.
