Coolera-Strandhill very nearly pulled off a significant upset against 14-man Tourlestrane in the Sligo SFC semi-final yesterday.

The Owen B Hunt Cup holders had to overcame an early red card and a 2-5 to 1-5 interval deficit to force a draw with the underdogs thanks to Cathal Henry's injury-time free. It finished, at Connolly Park, Coolera-Strandhill 2-7, Tourlestrane 1-10.

County man Niall Murphy caused lots of problems for the back-to-back champions and helped himself to 1-5 over the contest. It only took Murphy 19 seconds to score a goal while he set up Colm Parke for his side's second major on the stoke of half-time.

The other semi-final involving Tubbercurry and Coolaney-Mullinabreena was scheduled for the Curry GAA grounds yesterday but was postponed due to a bereavement in the Tubbercurry club.
