Westmeath have put themselves in the promotion reckoning in Division 3 after staging a late comeback to end Fermanagh's unbeaten record at TEG Cusack Park.

With Seamus Quigley to the fore, the wind-assisted visitors took a 0-7 to 0-2 lead into the break, but Colin Kelly's charges rallied after the restart to reduce the deficit to the minimum, 0-8 to 0-9.

The Erne County looked to have regained control when an Eamonn Maguire goal gave them a four-point cushion with 10 minutes remaining. But Westmeath refused to wilt and John Heslin's fifth point of the second half had the sides level before injury-time efforts from Luke Loughlin and sub John Connellan completed the comeback.

Fermanagh, who have been replaced in the top two by Westmeath, finished the game with 14 men after Cian McManus was sent off in the closing stages.

Longford remain in the promotion hunt ahead of next weekend's visit of the Lake County, despite being held to a 2-12 to 0-18 draw by Sligo at Markievicz Park.

The relegation-threatened hosts led by 0-9 to 0-5 at half-time before Longford turned the game on its head with second half goals from Pauric Gill and Darren Gallagher. However, Adrian Marren's injury-time free earned the Yeats County a share of the spoils.
