Monaghan proud of charges

November 22, 2017

Ballymote manager Gerry Monaghan admits that he is proud of his charges despite their year coming to an end last weekend.

The Sligo junior champions lost out to Mayo's Lahardane in the Connacht club JFC final, despite the fact that they scored three goals in the game.

It was a brave effort by the Sligo side who can be proud of the year they are after having as stressed to the Sligo Champion by their manager.

"I'm very proud of the lads, they never let their heads go, even when Lahardane went eight points up. I think they were ahead of us on the day although we could have had a penalty in the first half which wasn't given when their goalkeeper sat on our fellow and instead it was a free out," said Monaghan.

"The boys in fairness to them never let their heads go and if there had been another three or four minutes who knows we could have pulled it off."
