The Late Eamon Gavin The death took place on Friday week last at Tullamore General Hospital of Mr Eamon Gavin, Curramore, Kiltoom, who was one of the foremost community activists in Kiltoom parish for many years. Aged 72, he was a well-known building contractor in the decades past and had been an employee of Irish Cable and Wire in Athlone for a number of years. Of a friendly and jovial disposition, he was a most engaging conversationalist who took a keen interest in current affairs and all sport linked activities. He had been a goalie with the St Brigid's senior championship side which won two county championships in 1958 and 1959 and he maintained a lifelong interest in the club. He was the club vice-chairperson for a period and was also a member of the club executive for many years. He was also chairperson of the Kiltoom Fine Gael branch for the past ten years and chairperson of the Kiltoom Cemetery Committee. Last year also he joined the Kiltoom Community Alert Group and became active within the group. Devoted to his immediate and extended family, he was noted for his neighbourly deeds and kind acts. Predeceased six weeks by his wife, Winifred (nee McManus, Drum), he is survived by sons, Eamon Junior, Curramore, Kiltoom and Kieran, London and daughters, Mrs Ethel Gormley, Curramore and Mrs Louise Harrington, Drum. He is also survived by brothers, PJ, Kilkenny; Joe, Lucan, Dublin; John, Curramore; Declan, Curramore and Tony, Curramore and Castlerea and sisters, Mrs Mary Burke, Clonlara, County Clare; Mrs Carmel Galvin, Kent; Mrs Chris Ryan, Shannonbridge; Mrs Frances Harrison, Brideswell ansl Mrs Louise Kelly, Glanduff. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, nieces, nephews and innumerable other relatives. Following Concelebrated Mass at the Church of the Risen Christ, Kiltoom, on Monday last the funeral took place to Kiltoom Cemetery. The celebrants of the Mass were Very Rev.
