The late Josie Hanly The death took place on October 4th, 2006, at St Patrick's Hospital. Carrick-on-Shannon of Mr Joseph (Josie) Hanly, Gardenstown, Carrick-on-Shannon. His death after a long illness, borne with great courage and dignity, has caused much sadness in the area where he was a most popular member of the community. He was actively involved in parish and church activities through the years. A former player and official of Shannon Gaels GAA club, he was the first secretary of the club formed in the early '50's. He is survived by his wife, Marcella; sons, Padraig and Kevin; daughters, Dympna and Noreen; sister, extended family, relatives and friends. Removal of remains took place from his residence on Thursday 5th to St Michael's Church, Drumlion. Following the funeral Mass burial took place in Drumlion cemetery.
