April 25, 2006
The late Pakie Hoare Handball followers were saddened to hear of the death of Pakie Hoare. For decades, he was one of the leading figures in handball circles in Roscommon town, the county and indeed nationwide. He was chairman of the St. Coman's Club and the county board for many years. During the 1970s and 1980s, he was the driving force behind the building of the 60 x 30 and 40 x 20 courts at his beloved St. Coman's. He coached many players at the club to top honours. Pakie was a fine player in his youth and represented his club and county at all levels for many years. His contribution to handball was immense. Everyone involved in the sport extends their sympathy to his wife Eve, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. His removal took place to the Sacred Heart Church, Roscommon. Burial at St. Coman's cemetery. May he rest in peace. Courtesy of The Roscommon Herald 25 April 2006
