We were set for a busy afternoon as we had no fewer than six games down for decision.

The big two saw the Ulster SFC continue as Tyrone travelled to Celtic Park to take on Derry at 2pm, while the Munster SHC saw Tipperary host Cork at 4pm.

Roscommon continued their quest for a Connacht title as they took on Leitrim in Carrick-on-Shannon at 3.30pm.

The last of the round robin series in the Leinster SHC also took place as it was do or die for the hurlers of Offaly and Kerry who met at O'Connor Park.

There was also a dead rubber between Carlow and Westmeath at Netwatch Cullen Park as the Lake County were already through to the quarterfinals, while Carlow must plan for the Christy Ring Cup next year. Throw in for both these matches was at 3pm.

Also down for decision was the meeting of Kildare and Meath in the Christy Ring Cup semi-final at Newbridge. Throw in at 2.30pm.
