August 14, 2012
The unexpected death of Mr. James Keavney, Castletennison Demesne, Ballyfarnon, which occurred last week, was heard of with deep sadness, shock and regret over a wide area. James played at all levels with St. Ronan's GAA Club for many years and was a member of the Roscommon junior team in the Connacht Junior Final in 1997.

He won County Intermediate medals with St. Ronan's in 1986 and in 1996 and was a noted full back and corner back. Up until the time of his death he maintained a great interest in both St. Ronan's and Roscommon GAA teams. Son of the late Mr. Ned Keavney, he is survived by his mother Bridie, sisters, Ann, Bernadette and Maureen, his brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, extended family, friends and neighbours. His remains were removed from his home to St. Patrick's Church, Ballyfarnon on Thursday evening. Members of St. Ronan's GAA Club and friends formed a Guard of Honour at the removal of the remains. Following Mass of Christian burial on Friday interment took place in Kilronan Cemetery.
