Conroy, Dillon

January 10, 2012
The death occurred, after a short illness on December 23rd of Mr Dillon Conroy, St Patrick Street, Castlerea. Dillon was a kind person and a good neighbour.

He set up a tyre business, known as Castlerea Tyre Centre, at Main Street, Castlerea in 1972, which he ran until 1994. He then went travelling around the country selling tyres until he retired a few years ago. He was a very popular business and salesman. He was a great man for walking with his faithful dog and friend Rocco, who will miss him. He was a great Roscommon supporter and travelled the length and breadth of the country with family members to support them.

Indeed when Roscommon played New York in the Connaught championship in New York in 2011 the whole family was with him lending its support. Aside from Paddy Joe Burke, the barber in Roscommon, Dillon was Roscommon's greatest supporter. He was also a great Castlerea St. Kevin's supporter and rarely missed any of their games, and of course being a Ballintubber man he also took a keen interest in St Croan's. He was, above all, a graet family man and they miss him very much. May he rest in peace.

He is survived by his wife, Enna; sons, Seamus, Dillon Paul and Fergal; daughters, Miriam and Sile; brother, John, sister, Ann, mother-in-law, Breege; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends. His remains were removed from his residence on Tuesday December 27th to St Patrick's Church, Castlerea for Mass of the Ressurrection, celebrated by Canon Joe Fitzgerald, Castlerea, assisted by Fr Michael Donnelly, Castlerea, Fr Joe Poole, Ballintubber, Fr Michael Kelly, Castlerea and Fr Peter Moloney, Castlerea. After Mass, burial took place in St Joseph's Cemetery, Castlerea.
